Red Cloud to Build $40M Primary Data Centre In Hobart

Our Australian partner Red Cloud Ltd is building a $40million Tier 3 data centre in Hobart.  Using Cannon Technologies Global Award winning  internationally-acclaimed modular technology.

This will be the first Tier 3 data centre to be built in Tasmania. It will take 6-8 months to complete the total solution.

Red Cloud Ltd is a hybrid data centre operator and a modular data centre products reseller. Red Cloud Ltd is focussed on developing data centres at the ‘Edge’ and will build a national network of data centres across Australia to form a distributed (meshed) data centre network.

The data centre will be created using factory produced modules. These modules will be added to an existing building converted to a high level of security.

The agile, flexible technology ensures that the Tasmanian client stays at the forefront of technological advancements. The data centre is future-proofed to ensure that it is flexible enough to adapt to new technological advancements.

The facility will start with 150-200 racks and 1 megawatt of power. With demand, it will expand to 600 racks and 4 megawatts of power.

Red Cloud Ltd’s CEO Carl Woodbridge says that Tasmania is the perfect location for the new centre:

“We are excited to be involved in a project which will be a significant economic driver for the business community in Tasmania, in partnership with Cannon Technologies Ltd.

“The demand for outsourced infrastructure and Cloud computing is continuing to expand worldwide. Providing a Tier 3 data centre with the highest level of resilience and security will enable Tasmanian ICT companies with the ability to deliver exceptional services without the latency typically encountered from the mainland.”
