Power Transfer Switches

Transfer Switches to guard against power failure

Cross Over Transfer Switches and Static Transfer Switches

  • These units provide uninterruptible power from 2 available AC electrical sources providing system resilience
  • An XTS or STS provides dual power resilience, when powering equipment with only a single power input
  • 16A and 32A total input power versions
  • All units are rated at 32A total output power
  • 3m of supply cabling and IEC309 connectors fitted in accordance with unit type
  • Colt-free local (and remote via CannonGuard) alarm contacts
  • 19-inch rack mounting/zero 'U' mounting bracket option
  • Units measured 1U x 250mm deep

XTS (Cross Over Transfer SwitchesCannon XTS Diagram)

  • Ideal for managing high in-rush current when starting systems

An XTS runs off two supplies and automatically switches the outlets to the remaining live supply if one supply fails.

Normally Supply A provides power to the bank of Outlet sockets A and Supply B provides power to the bank of Outlet sockets B. If Supply A or Supply B fails, then the unit automatically transfers the remaining live power supply source to both banks of Outlet sockets A & B.

  • Dual 4 in-line Outlet connector banks (A & B) to IEC320 (10A or 16A)

STS (Static Transfer Switches)Cannon STS Diagram

An STS runs off one supply and automatically switches to another supply when the first supply fails.

Normally Supply A provides power to all the Outlet sockets. If Supply A fails then Supply B provides the power to all the Outlet sockets.

  • 8 in-line Outlet connectors to IEC320 (10A or 16A)

Transfer Characteristics and Equipment Safety

Be aware that having 2 phases in a rack/cabinet gives the possibility of 400V AC across phases and equipment should be chosen with regard to this. Only qualified personnel should specify and connect this type of equipment. STS & XTS switches will switch most rapidly (approx. 7mS) when connected to the two most adjacent phases (e.g. 1 & 2 or 2 & 3), otherwise the switching time will range between 1/4 & 3/4 of an AC cycle (i.e. 5 to 15mS)
