The 'Environmental Control Unit', together with Cannon thermal management solutions, will help operators to protect critical systems, maintain network integrity, obtain subscriber confidence and avoid expensive downtime.

Cannon Telecomms has launched an innovative 'Environmental Control Unit' for its range of 'StreetWise' and 'AirWave' enclosures.The system fully integrates sophisticated Thermal Management with Security and Environmental Alarms. The microprocessor-controlled unit provides comprehensive monitoring of the enclosure and its internal equipment operating up to 40 discreet alarms.

The ECU system offers early warning of potential damage to the equipment housed within the cabinet by transmitting alarms back to the control centre where the appropriate action may be taken. Interrogation of the system may also be conducted from central control, often eliminating the need to send personnel to site.

Sophisticated and intelligent

Electronic equipment housed in outdoor enclosures, particularly for communication systems, has become increasingly sophisticated. Such equipment was usually developed for indoor applications and is ultra sensitive to the uncontrolled temperature and climatic changes of outdoor environments. The 'Environmental Control Unit' manufactured by Cannon Telecomms offers a single, comprehensive solution for the efficient management of the equipment environment. This provides an early warning of out-of-tolerance conditions, controlling the operational temperature, preventing damage and prolonging the life of sensitive electronics.

Other features include the provision of a range of alarms to indicate unauthorised tampering, vandalism and accident, by the inclusion of shock detection and door open alarms. Sensors for the monitoring of the other features, such as humidity, may be included as required. Up to 40 sensors of various types can be monitored through the Cannon Telecomms Environmental Control Unit.

The 'Environmental Control Unit' is available as an option to all models of the Cannon Telecomms Streetside range of outdoor cabinets.
